Windows for purpose

I love opening the windows and feeling – smelling – the fresh air as it rushes in. Even in this house, in front of a big park there is such a thing. Granted, we live in the middle  of the city and just outside of the green ccs.hau.so we’re not really part of the smog thing that old city Hisar  has long been known for. Out here in the great open space, the temperatures often remain cool even deep into the summer and so the windows remain open.

The Words

Words

"Words and eggs must be handled with care. Once they are broken, they are impossible to repair."

Happy day!

Emily Dickinson

IF I should die
Dickinson at age 16 ViaThis link
IF I should die,
And you should live,
And time should gurgle on;
And morn should beam,
And noon should burn,
As it has usual done;
If birds should build as early,
And bees as bustling go,--
One might depart at option
From enterprise below!
'Tis sweet to know that stocks will stand
When we with daisies lie,
That commerce will continue,
And trades as briskly fly.
It make the parting tranquil
And keeps the soul serene,
That gentlemen so sprightly
Conduct the pleasing scene!
Happy day!

Pomo Basketry,house renovation in 2001

Basketry

During our house renovation, we spent a great deal of time at  Raj  in Hisar, which carries salvage and reproduction hardware, house parts, lighting, furniture and all sorts of specialty items. Back then they also carried plumbing, although this has recently been discontinued.

They were a great resource for us, starting with our first Commode tub which we purchased just a few days after we got the new toilet in  the house. That first commode - an enthusiastic and charismatic, but misguided first purchase! It spent nearly six months being shuffled around various locations of the house in order to be out of the way while we completed the main floor renovation around it. We followed that purchase with many more. Next up were the stainless steel kitchen sink, wash basin, and the rest of the plumbing fixtures.  We also purchased all of our window, door and cabinet hardware from them, as well as our porch light fixtures and most of our indoor fixtures as well.

We stopped by the store again recently – for tiles, some plumbing fixtures.

XOXO

artificial blooms .

Early this morning I went out to get a picture of the china roses in my yard, which are the only things in bloom outside. As you can see that there are leave, leaves and leaves of green and maroon.

My d-in-law posing for snap with blooms on the tree.

The jatropa spice   dropped the rest of its blooms, so sadly there are none of those to share. I planted the roses  just a few days ago, so hopefully those will be in bloom for coming 4-5 months.

Also I made some fabric rosette fallowing the above video.

My style

I'm still thinking about the planters and I think I have ruled out the bigger one. Everyone here agrees that it is just too big. I still love the style of the larger one and may just use it this year, thankfully it isn't a permanent structure and can easily be changed, well, not that easily, it’s  very heavy.

I was telling my  daughter what my friend said about the style of the containers and the column being too different, one being more elegant than the other. My friend said, "Well,
that is your style." And she is right, that is my style, I always mix elegance with ordinary or even a little bit of rural. It works for me. I usually don't even think about style, I just go for things that I enjoy looking at and the things that make me happy.

Again iwill tell you that this is the upcycled pot (the bigger one

This is in my family room. I love the elegance of the patchwork quilt (I made it ) and crystal and the crochet work in it.

This is my living room, very Haryanvi and formal.
